POSTPONED to Feb 2015 Kalsang Dawa, my dear friend and master thangka painter, is bringing his unique style of teaching to Southern California for the first time. He hopes this first workshop will lead to future collaborations with the Threads of Awakening community.
To support you and your friends in participating, he’s making a special offer just for us! Read on, below Kalsang’s smiling face, to see the benefits of taking this workshop with a friend…
We are so lucky to have Kalsang visit the studio! Born and raised in Lhasa, Tibet, Kalsang was trained in the traditional methods of thangka painting in Dharamsala, India. For the last 15 years, he’s lived in Vancouver, Canada, enlarging both his artistic style and his understanding of human nature. Already an extraordinarily sensitive and inquisitive person, Kalsang’s personal path and diverse cultural experiences have deepened his sensitivity as an artist, a teacher, and an observer of human beings.
In this 4-day workshop with Kalsang, you’ll learn to prepare canvas and grind mineral colors in the traditional Tibetan way. You’ll be introduced to the concept of the mandala and its traditional forms. Then you’ll explore your own inner landscape & express a design of your own creation, designed for your own healing. It’s a unique blend of traditional art and personal care.
So grab a friend or two and contact Kalsang to sign up for this one-of-a-kind experience at a special discount!
June 20 to 23 (Friday through Monday), 10am to 5pm each day.
$425 including materials. Register with a friend and you’ll both receive discounts (see above).
No experience needed. All are welcome.
I’ll be taking the workshop myself. Hope to see you there!
