Ojai museum’s exhibit gets tactile with textile

“Leslie Rinchen-Wongmo, of Oxnard, will showcase three pieces of art including “Nomad Girls” and “Three Mongolians,” which are portraits of real people practicing the Buddhadharma .

“Both pieces are based on photographs,” said china Rinchen-Wongmo, who uses traditional Tibetan appliqué techniques to interpret photographic images of real people. “In ‘Nomad Girls,’ I’ve actually incorporated the photo into the textile work using inkjet printing on fabric. I’ve also utilized machine quilting to add texture in the background of this piece.”
