Morning thoughts:

Running on the beach
with the birds
in the fog.

Delighting…
Could anything be more perfect?

A dead seal washed ashore.
Some sadness.

Waves crash.
I’m home today.
(Don’t fixate. Stay soft.)

Another seal plays in the water.

After another transatlantic transition, I’m back in California. My MacBook Pro is suffering the black screen of death and I’m a bit more unplugged than usual.

Working on a borrowed and slow computer, no pictures today. Only words and few at that.

I logged onto Google Reader this morning and found two gems to share:

Ken Robert at Mildly Creative has written a series of posts about being okay with not being understood. How desperately we yearn to be understood by our loved ones… and sometimes by our less-loved ones as well. If only they understood us, they’d accept us or they’d cooperate, or they’d know that I’m right and they’d do what I think they should do, or some other version of the same fiction.   Ken has written elegantly and insightfully in a series of five posts entitled How to Be Authentic with People Who Love You but Don’t Understand You. All five parts are full of good advice to make life a whole lot easier:

1. An introduction
2. Stop demanding that people understand you
3. Stop asking people to give you what you won’t give yourself
4. Stop asking people to give you what they don’t have to give
5. Stop robbing people of the opportunity to grow

Lisa Call has also delivered a falcons Jersey schedule 2017 post of great value before heading off to South Africa with Nancy Crow. I don’t know how that lady does it all! But she gives some tips for the rest of us in Stop Thrashing and Start Processing on MakeBigArt.com. Lisa is a textile artist, prolific blogger, and software engineer (and a mom too!). In this post, she uses computer metaphors to effectively communicate the pitfalls of multitasking and some systems for doing it better. I don’t know if I’ll ever reach her level of discipline and productivity, but there are some tools in this post for the less productive of us too!

In the coming weeks, I intend to take good care of myself, to drink fresh juices and exercise my body, to visit the ocean often and connect deeply with nature, to laugh out loud and smile quietly. I’ll also study chemistry, deliver a thangka, finish two new works, and uplevel my business, among other things. Oh, and I’ll keep on posting here.

Reminded of Anna T.’s post On the Importance of Nature, I’m pleased to have renewed access and look forward to sharing the fruits with you.

I am glad to hear that you are finding yourself closer to nature again and hope that you will have plenty of time to immerse yourself in it! What could be more important after all?

  • Welcome back to California!
I loved your “Morning Thoughts”. Thank you for sharing that.
Thanks for the link to Mildly Creative. Lot’s of great insights on that blog!
Enjoy the beach and everything it has to offer!

Thanks Anna and Dianne! I took another run/walk on the beach this morning. Hanging out with the birds and the waves does me good. And greeting the few other humans there is nice too.
